The three Osage County Commissioners in Pawhuska, Oklahoma signed the same resolution approved by the three Osage County commissioners at Linn cementing a sister county bond between those of German and French ancestry here and Osage Indian descendants there.

Osage Indians were the original inhabitants here and still comprise much of the populations of Osage County, Oklahoma which is the home of the Osage nation, including a reservation and other Indian-owned land.

The Osage nation has its own tribal government, police force and even license plates.  In addition to cultural differences between the counties, Oklahoma's Osage County and its county seat are about four times as large in population.  Pawhuska has more than 4,000 residents and the county itself about 50,000.

Osage County is the largest in Oklahoma roughly 100 miles by 70 miles.  Pawhuska has a weekly newspaper, 16 restaurants, and more than 60 homes on the National Register of Historic Places.  They also have a three man county government board.
